Margaret Davis Collison, a Democratic party activist and member of the Iowa Board of Regents in the 1970s, was born in Farmington, Missouri in 1921. She received an A.A. from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 1940 and a B.A. in nursing from St. Louis University in 1943, where she met her husband, Robert M. Collison. Roxanne Barton Conlin, feminist and civil justice activist, worked as a lawyer in private practice from 1966 to 1967 before serving as Deputy Industrial Commissioner in Des Moines from 1967 to 1968.
